Porsche propshaft repair and manufacture: Porsche Cayenne
The Porsche Cayenne shares some mechanicals with the Volkswagen Touareg and from the perspective of its propshaft design, it is identical. The Cayenne, therefore, has a twin shaft propshaft with a rubber coupling on the gearbox end and a CV on the differential end. It has a plunging CV joint in the centre. Adjacent to this, is the Centre bearing which is mounted to the propshaft. A typical failing is on the centre bearing where the rubber perishes. We can replace the centre bearing if required, but we will discuss alternative repair options with the customer depending on the expected mileage of the vehicle and the customers budget. Our experience with the Cayenne, like the Touareg, indicates that hard driving reduces the longevity of the centre bearing rubber as does towing.

On most truck drivelines you will find an intermediate propshaft and Scania trucks are no different. Sometimes referred to as the 'mid-shaft' or a 'centre bearing shaft', the intermediate propshaft is identified as the propshaft with a centre support bearing.
